Pete Evans Tastes Tunisia

Australian chef and My Kitchen Rules judge Pete Evans
enjoys a three-course paleo dinner at Moorish Blue!

On Wednesday, Pete Evans and his guests visited our North Sydney Tunisian restaurant to try our modern North African cuisine. We had the pleasure of serving them a three-course paleo dinner, featuring the ethical and high-quality meats from Cleaver's, The Organic Meat Company.

As one of the most well-known chefs in Australia and My Kitchen Rules (MKR) judge, our chefs were delighted catch up with and share their culinary specialities with Evans, in the form of his preferred dietary style. Evans' and his two lucky guests, winners of a competition with Cleaver's Organic Meat, enjoyed the following personalised menu:

First Course

Tunisian Brika with butternut pumpkin, tuna and runny egg
Almond-crusted Cleaver's Organic Lamb Backstrap with poached baby figs, preserved lemon and pine nuts
Okra calamari with harissa, walnuts and avocado
Tunisian Brika with butternut pumpkin, tuna and runny egg

Second Course

Jewfish with grilled artichokes, mloukia and Tahini dressing
Cleaver's Organic Beef Fillet with grilled basturma, broccolini and mulberry salad
Cleaver's Organic Lamb Backstrap with Moorish eggplant caponata and caramelised chilli drops

Third Course

Rosewater coconut panna cotta
Orange and almond cake
Fresh figs with roasted almonds

Tunisian mint tea
Turkish coffee

In light of Evans' visit, Moorish Blue patrons will also be able to dine paleo with us for the next month with our special. Go on – taste Tunisia in paleo!

NB: Honey is the only sweetener used in this menu. Everything is dairy- and wheat-free; the Brika is made with coconut flour.
